Job Details

1/ General

Responsible for the management, growth, and scaling of company’s Dev Ops and Technology Architecture teams including:

• Managing team size, composition, and structure to deliver on the responsibilities to the Engineering, Product, and IT Operations teams
• Providing staffing guidance and team growth plans to the CTO
• Attracting and retaining a highly skilled team
• Growth and development of a “next level” management team to allow the Director of Technology to scale their area of responsibility to take on and manage company’s growth
• Ensuring the growth and development of the teams and functions for which they are responsible

2/ Architecture

• Responsible for the development of guidance and best practices for company’s engineering teams through agile/just in time collaboration with technical leads within the engineering teams
• Responsible for working with Prod IT Ops to identify and manage operational issues and collaboration with engineering teams to address technical debt
• Responsible for ensuring the scalability and performance of company’s systems and technologies
• Responsible for ensuring high availability and reliability of company’s systems and technologies
• Responsible for ensuring manageability and operability of company’s systems and technologies
• Responsible for ensuring visibility into operational and user experience issues to guide engineering teams on areas of focus for improvement
• Responsible for cost optimization of company’s deployed systems and technologies through efficient architecture and design
• Responsible for the security of system and technologies delivered by company’s engineering teams
• Responsible for supporting company’s CSO and security team in providing training to company’s engineering teams around security best practices and top security issues in engineering.
• Responsible for designing and architecting company’s external and partner APIs and partnering with company’s engineering teams for implementation.

3/ Dev Ops

• Responsible for management, the stability and availability of all company’s non-production environments
• Responsible for working with the CTO, Finance team, and engineering teams on cost management, forecasting, and budgeting for non-production environments
• Responsible for managing and company’s CI/CD and code pipelines to ensuring timely deployments to non-production environments
• Responsible for managing and supporting company’s CSO, CTO, and engineering teams through managing and maintain static analysis tools to assist with:
  – Security scanning for vulnerabilities
  – Scanning for “code smells”
  – Scanning for dependency analysis, particularly for third-party and open-source libraries
  – Complexity analysis and management
  • Responsible for managing company’s third-party dependencies with a particular focus on use of open-source libraries and IP risk management
  • Responsible for the security of and securing of company’s non-production environments.

Job Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience as a Director of Technology for a medium sized team or CTO for a small organization or team with a demonstrable history within the role
• At least 8 years of experience in technology architectural roles or management of technical architecture teams
• At least 10 years in technology leadership roles and experience providing leadership to a medium to large technology organization
• At least 15 years of experience working in technology
• Experience launching and supporting commercial SaaS systems and platforms
• Experience building, developing, and scaling technology teams with a preference for developing and promoting internally through development of their team
• Experience supporting Product IT Operations capabilities for delivered products and services and demonstrated history of product operations improvements
• Experience working closely with or managing Dev Ops teams
• Nice to have: Experience growing and developing teams from 3 – 15 dedicated resources.
